Finally, we are releasing 1.2.0-stable-j10 for general consumption. This release is a re-release of 1.1.23-beta-j10 for those of you who have been receiving our updates after one full month with no bug reports. This strict release requirement has allowed us to say with certainty that our product can be installed on your platform for production.
Different from our previous release, we have cleaned up the code base and added many interesting features. Features include the ability to switch on or off feature sets, a frontend tabular view of the contents, nicer looking compare view.
With this release, we can now focus on provide phase 2 of ERM which should provide VCS support for CVS or SVN in ERM. We hope to embark then ultimately on a mission to provide media version management. |

Victor Drover wrote to me asking for our demo site, and then proceeded to write a blog entry comparing this and the other system. We heartily disagree that VCS should be the recommended system, but that's coz we are after all the vendor behind ERM. But take a look at the entry and give us some feedback. I know we can definitely enhance ERM in the near future, so please stay tuned. Most of the features already in VCS look like features that we can easily add to ERM.
We feel our design is ultimately superior because while we currently have a database backend implemented, we intend to implement other version control system backends, such as CVS and subversion. What we will do then will be save the text into subversion/CVS. Having CVS/Subversion as the control system then allows us to also save media. So think about having a tinymce with the add image button that pulls version 5 of an audio clip to the frontend. Once ERM has that kind of functionality, we intend to take down Docman, another crappy piece of software that reflects poor use case and design! :) The march to world domination. :) |

After some time since the last release, and quite a few bugs and issues later, we now have egXact Revision Manager, our version control system or revision management system for Joomla released for both 1.0 and 1.5. The code base for both are now synchronised feature for feature. We expect another release next week with the following new features:
a. Due to the new code base, delete version is currently missing, but should be back next week.
b. Notifications to administrators (subscribe to watchers)
c. Frontend content listing page similiar to mycontent ( we may just spin this off as a separate component )
d. Allow saving of content without comments (currently, a nag box appears when you want to save)
e. Sorting behaviour in the version tab.
f. Alternative VCS backend
Please download and enjoy.
